THE MYSTREATED "Lovely Sunday Dreaming" 1999 + "Contrasts (I've Got Plenty)" 1998 - 7"/45rpm

12 PURE 60'S FOLK / BEAT TRACKS FROM A TOP UK GARAGE COMBO! The Mystreated were a great 1990’s UK garage band. Members later on formed The Embrooks (early 2000-2004) and then the Higher State (2005- the present).

A typical of a band's final album, Lovely Sunday Dreaming depicts the beginning of the end in that its greatness is matched by frustration and apathy. Indeed, the Mystreated improved immeasurably as singers, musicians, and songwriters. And moments of this album are almost brilliant. "Universal Energy" achieves the psychedelic/folk-rock hybrid that the Byrds mastered with Younger Than Yesterday, but as the band continued to further explore their current interests it became apparent that they were also distancing a number of their more garage-fuzz-orientated devotees. It also seemed that there was an uncertainty in which direction they wanted to move, and a number of particularly uninspired numbers marks this. Shortly after this record was released, the split occurred, which is a great shame as it could have ushered in a new audience of contemporary pop fans. ~ Jon 'Mojo' Mills, All Music Guide

"Contrasts (I've Got Plenty)" 1998 - 7"/45rpm
…Their debut album, 10 Boss Cuts, was released in 1992 on Hangman Records, produced by label owner and beat/punk legend Billy Childish (the Pop Rivets/the Milkshakes/the Mighty Caesars / thee Headcoats). Brimming with a lo-fi, no-messing Childish sound, the album gained both admirers and critics due to it's basic production. Regularly playing in London to avid fans the Mystreated very soon became one of the most popular acts of the backroom circuit… (to be continued)
