Cafe Sandwicho : Everything but sandwiches

Ever since i visited Eskimos couple of months ago, Cafe Sandwicho which happens to share the space with Eskimos was always on the radar.

Cafe sandwich is more like a super set of Eskimos dishing out Indian, Chinese and Italian food as their major offerings. It doesn't offer a lot many sandwiches as its name suggests - a bummer this.

Ive liked Eskimos gelato a lot, but not always does it warrant a trip all the way to gandipet.

Armed with a friend and his appetite, we made it to Cafe Sandwicho ( from mindspace) on a weekday afternoon. The weather in agreement with our expedition, we reached Narsingi in about 15 minutes.

A major difference from the last time - the lawns all manicured, the furniture in place and the cafe operational - was a pleasant site to see.

We dashed in to the cafe as we were on a tight deadline and wanted to be back at work by 2pm latest.

We halted the juggernaut at the ice cream show case, sampled a few - liked some , did not like some  and headed to the seating area.

The seating area is well laid out. Its a relaxed atmosphere with quiete a lot of thought and money spent on getting functional furniture in place. There were already a few folks digging into biryani and haleem as the season would suggest.

As soon as we sat down, were swarmed by 3-4 guys offering us menu, filling our glasses and ready to take our order. For a moment i was amused because it seemed there were more employees that customers at sandwicho at that hour.

The menu is atleast 6-7 pages. I could figure out the Indian, Chinese and Italian food, but settled for the Chinese on that afternoon.

Our order was Pan fried noodles in Chilli garlic sauce , PFN in soy sauce and very berry mocktail.

The service was quick. Our first PFN were served in about 10-12 minutes. There was chilli, there was garlic and there were noodles - they gelled well. The food tasted good and i felt 1 entire dish would be filling for 1 person.

The next was the soy version of PFN. I felt this was better of the two. Flavors more subtle and leaving a lingering after taste in your mouth.

We then moved to the gelatos, after the initial tasting we settled on the Megrock and Vanilla+choc chip  , Megrock + caramel.

Both gelatos were hearty in portion and very smooth. I cant describe ice cream more than this. Its better eaten than read on a blog.

The entire meal set us back by a grand for 2 which i felt was ok. My stomach was satisfied by the amount of food thrown in so i couldn't agree more with it

The open play area is great for kids in the evenings, the ice cream is great and the Chinese is good. The place would have done justice to its name had it served kick ass sandwiches. For now, its in its formative days and i hope, the sandwiches will eventually make it on the menu...

PS: they have a website cafesandwicho.com which imo should have been operational by now, but it isnt. Hopefully when it does, it will have the menu they serve and some pics of the place...
